Chapter 02

“Noona #8, mom wants you to go to the market to… “ Jae Joong said as he opened the door to his 8th sister’s to see his sister kissing a boy. But Jae Joong being only 12 at the moment and being in a family that rarely displays emotion thought she was being attacked.

“Hey what are you doing to my noona!!! “ Jae Joong without any thought rushed towards the two and tackled down the boy down and started to punch him without any mercy. The boy tried to stop him but Jae Joong did not give him any chance to block let alone defend himself. Jae Joong was solely focused on hurting the boy who had “hurt” his sister, but as he was about to land another powerful blow to the already bloody boy, he got hit on the back of his head multiple times by a pillow.

“ Hey what are you… “ but before he could finish his sentence his sister once again repeatedly hit him with her pillow and while he was distracted with his sister, her boyfriend took the opportunity to push Jae Joong off of him and got up as he was wiping the blood off his face… his mouth spilt, eyes blackened and nose broken. Jae Joong with a confused watched as his noona dropped the pillow and hurriedly walk up to his opponent with a towel crying and apologizing.

“Why did you hit me? Why are you acting this way…. Didn’t this jerk break into the house and was attacking you?” he said as he quickly got up and returned to a fighting stance.

“Attack?!?! I’m her boyfriend and I wasn’t attacking her….We were kissing you brat!!! Why I ought to…” the boyfriend said as he started to take a step towards Jae Joong but had to jump back because Jae Joong had kicked towards the boyfriend.

His noona seeing this stepped in between the two, holding back Jae Joong, “ Jae Jae stop it!!! You’ve done enough damage!! I’m sorry Min… I didn’t know this would happen… but I think you should go home.. I don’t think he’ll stop and I can’t hold him back forever.”

Min seeing how Jae Joong was struggling to get away from his older sister’s hold, decided that it was best for him to leave quick, but as walked away, he turned around, “ hey pretty boy … you should learn more about real life and stop frolicking in the sunflower fields… oh and Bae… you should probably tell your parents to get a leash for him…. Before he attacks like a wild dog again…hahahah… what the?!?!” Min’s joy was short lived as Jae Joong had been able to break free from Bae’s hold and leaped toward Min again startling him. Fearing another beating Min quickly rushed out of the room while Bae dragged Jae Joong back to her bed forcing him to sit down.

“Calm down will you !!! He’s gone… and you’ve hurt him enough… Aishhh… I’m soo embarrassed… what if he breaks up with me…. I love him sooo much… “ Bae began to mumble as she paced back and forth. Noticing that his sister was preoccupied with her thoughts, Jae Joong tried to make a quick escape but was caught by his noona, more specifically her roundhouse kick, knocking him completely flat onto the bed, “ You don’t think that you’ll get away that easily do you ?”

“What ever but did you have to kick me? You don’t know your own strength you know that… I wouldn’t be surprised if you could pull the plows better than our cows..” and with that comment, he snickered and slowly got up only to be pounced on by his noona and put into a headlock. “Ouch… quit it!!! Or I’ll tell mom and dad!!”

Without loosening her grip she applied more pressure sitting on her only brother, “ hahah go right ahead.. and I’ll tell them that you beat up another person… let’s see who’s next to get a beating… come on, we’ll go to the flower shop right now and if they aren’t there we’ll go to the restaurant… mom and dad are supposed to be there to check on account books… “ she got up and still with Jae Joong in a headlock slowly walked to the door.

Realizing the fate that laid before him if they were to go to his parents, he broke free from his noona’s grasp and started his tactic of pouting his way out of trouble.

“But… noona I didn’t mean to. I thought he was attacking you… II just wanted to protect my favorite noona..” and with an angelic innocent look on his face he went towards his noona with open arms but was stopped by his sister’s hand.

“Your favorite noona really?... Wasn’t it just last nightthat you said Unnie Mae was your favorite so she would gowork at the restaurant instead of you today… or how about this morning when you cried in front of Unnie Rae and begged her to go to the flower shop with mom instead of you… hmmm I don’t know… is it worth being your favorite huh you sneaky little boy..”

“gulp… but… but.. .I never seen a kiss before… how was I supposed to know what it was… It looked like he was attacking you so… I… uhhh… wait.. noona what is a kiss anyways..??”

“”hah ahah … Min was right you do live in your own little world huh?”

“What are you talking about … I’ve never seen anyone do it before.. not even mom or dad..”

“sigh… Now that I think aobut it … since mom and dad are soo traditional.. I guess it would be understandable for you to not know what it is…ok jae jae why don’t you have a seat and I will explain it to you so the enxt time you see someone kissing.. no one will end up dead and you wont end up in jail.” Bae gently put her hands on Jae Joong’s shoulders and looked at him. Jae Joong glanced back, nodded and took a seat as his sister began to sit beside him.

“Ok well you know that boys and girls are different… and that when people get older they begin to search for that special person to spend the rest of their lives with..”

“Like mom and dad right?... but what does that have to do with kissing…” and all of the sudden he received a slap from behind his head.

“ Do you want me to explain this to you or not?.. Don’t interrupt..”

“Fine… sorry noona”

“And to answer your question having that sense of being partners for life has very much everything to do with it.. its love… not love that mom has for you or my love for you.. but a different type of love… and there are many ways of showing that love towards each other.. one way is kissing, which is what Min… ummm… “

“So you want to spend the rest of your life with that wimp huh? I guess I can see him being the girl in the relationship hahhaha” Jae Joong broke out into lafughter but stop fearing an attack from his sister.

“For your information he is not a wimp… you’re just an all around freak… strong… smart.. and prettier than most of the girls in our village hahaha… but yes he is the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with… that’s why we kissed…”

“But weren’t you close to Yun a few months ago.. I saw you two holding hands … “

“ Well .. this time it is for sure.. when you kiss .. you can tell … no feel if you and that person are meant to be together… your heart becomes light.. you want to smile and you can only picture them in your mind after your first kiss.. “ Bae looked out the window with softness in her eyes and warmly hugged her brother.
But suddenly Jae Joong broke the serene moment, jumping off the bed and heading towards the door. “Ok I get it now.. but I have 3 things to say to you… “

“ok”

“First…I’m sorry that I beat up your wimp of a boyfriend… second… I’m happy tha tit will be a long time beofer I have to deal with anything like this..” Jae Joong opened the door and took a step out of the room .
“Wait … what about the last one… “

“Oh … an lastly.. I’m surprised a violent over powering tomboy like you was able to find someone that would be to spend the rest of their life with you and deal with your mood swings!!! Hahahhahahha “ and in saying that he dashed out of the room and out of the house.

Bae rushed to the window just to see Jae Joong run past it. Mad she took off one of her slippers and threw it hitting her baby brother right on his back, “ You’re gonna get it when you come home !!!! you hear me!!!! Boo Jae!!!! You’re dead when I get a hold of you !!!!”

Without looking back Jae Joong replied,” Like you can noona… Do anything to me and I’ll all the noonas about you and wimp boy and mom and dad too !!! hahahha See you at dinner noona!!! Byee!!!”
After a safe distance from this house, he began to walk aimlessly thining about what his noona said about love.. kissing… and then he got angry when he remembered what Min had called him.. pretty boy.. Jae Joong couldn’t stand being called that.

He started kicking the grass thinking how could someone like Min call him that.. then in his head echoed what his sister had said which angered him even more. He began to pic up rocks to throw when the words “little girl” echoed in his mind. He pictured the girl that called him that.. after that day for 1 year after he only caught glimpses of her as she ran away from his family’s field each time with a bouquet of bruised sunflowers. He laughed at himself not knowing why everyday for an entire year after he met the Sunflower Girl … why he would go to the funflower fields which he before hated just to wait for her to come…but when she did come he would not go to her.. he would just watch from afar as the Sunflower Girl would run and play in the fields and pick flowers. Unknowingly time spent waiting and watching at the field always seemed to bring a smile to his face and joy in his heart.. but he did not understand why. With that image in his mind he began to smile as he continued to walk. When he stopped and looked up… he was at the field he was just thinking about .
